Strut Brace
Evening,
Just wondering if the strut brace was part of the sports chassis, or is it unique to the T5? By strut brace, I'm reffering the bar between the two suspension turrets as seen on my October 2008 UK T5 R-Design below: ![]() As point for discussion, I don't believe Ford saw fit to put a strut brace on the ST, so I'm wondering why Volvo fitted one? Maybe the focus shell is inherently stiffer than the C30? What d'ya reckon? |

I can tell you that my 2.0 T5, which has the "sport chassis", did not come with a strut brace.

I thought they were unique to the R-Design.
![]() As I'm building my car up for handling not HP, I'm still deciding whether or not the strut brace is even necessary. |

i noticed that i can enter and exit corners at higher speeds with it and body roll is reduced even my girl friend noticed that, with a rear sway and some springs my car handles like i want it too

Hi,
I got the strut brace standard in my D5, the chassis on my car is Dynamic Sport. I found out from the dealer that Dynamic Sport Chassis are standard on all T5 and D5 models, they explained this when telling me I couldn't order the sports lowering kit. apparently... you can only have that kit installed on cars that aren't dynamic, which is bullshit because I've had my car lowered now and it looks, feels and drives sweet. btw.. Have you all got moulded plastic covers on each end of your strut braces?? I've seen on here that loads of people don't have these covers.. which is weird I'll take some pics of mine tomorrow to show you what I mean |

hehe the strut brace didnt come on the US models everywhere else got them i believe, the molded plastic could be ordered with the strut brace but costed alittle extra, i have them but dont have them on i think they are tacky, anything that require minimal effort to remove on a car (a 4 year old could take them off they arnt like latched firmly ) shouldnt be on it haha

None of the US R-Design's came with one?
Stateside always get the shorter end of the shaft. Vivaperformance sells them: http://www.vivaperformance.com/catal...roducts_id=372 My guess is boston volvo is probably going to be cheaper though.
