Snow Chains

Has anyone had occasion to put snow chains on their tyres yet? We will have to buy a new pair, so I am not sure what the fit will be like, how much they will 'overlap' the rim.

Does anyone have any advice or tips?

Well waddya know "Outback-Ice" - We get a fair amount of snow in certain parts of South Africa too but never enough to warrant snow chains...

Snow socks

I know somebody who always keeps a pair of Auto Socks in his car. Finds them perfectly adequate for light 'nuisence' snow and much easier than chains.

Strange it may seem but I've heard that the Australian Snowy is bigger than Switzerland. Hardly anyone lives there of course but it does get pretty busy in Winter.

Never heard of Auto Socks before. Chains are rarely used in this country as we often get caught out by the odd flurry of snow. Auto socks might be a good idea, but not for me, cant see me being able to put them on with screaming kids in the car!!!
