Winter is coming...

Well winter is coming. At least for most of us. For my job it involves me driving at times that are less then ideal like in the morning before the plows make it out and late in the evenings when temps drop again. Luckily there is a 4wd vehicle in the house and a 2002 Lancer with snow tires. Here is some of the stuff I found tonight....

For those of us not interested in driving or C30 (or other) in the snow unless an "emergency", rendering snow tires pointless... Tire rack has these guys as an option; http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/...k/autosock.jsp

Studded "Covers": (these I had to look pretty hard to find but a major Auto magazine did a review a bit ago)

Here are some more traditional cables and also some chains:

Some retractable (that's right!) studded tires:

For just a great place to buy your snow tires or some steelies:

www.tirefactory.net

And both a great resource and evidence that there is a forum for everything, is here:
www.snowtire.info

There's alot more out there though that a simple google search will yield. Just past time for everyone to start thinking of those snowy morns! A few early flurries got me thinking Drive safe everyone.

Great information.

Don't forget:Discount Tire Direct

Hmmm.... The author of the winter tire site is in Rochester NY, an hour from me. We have a rivalry between the city of Rochester and Syracuse in regard to who gets the most snow (Syracuse!) and give out a golden snowball award to the city in NY state that gets the most snowfall for the season.

No problem. I updated the previous post with some links to the Golden Snowball info.

I am currently running Bridgestone Blizzaks and I'm not trilled with there performance. Partly my fault for going too narrow.

Next time around it going to be a set of studded Nokian Hakkapeliitta 4's. The best snow tires on plant earth IMO.
